Reducing Agents | Tcep (tris-(carboxyethyl) Phosphine Hydrochloride)

TCEP (Tris-(carboxyethyl) phosphine hydrochloride) is a type of reducing agent that is often used in biochemistry and molecular biology. TCEP is often used as a reducing agent to break disulfide bonds within and between proteins as a preparatory step for gel electrophoresis. TCEP has nearly an equivalent reducing potential as DTT, but is more stable than DTT in EDTA-free solutions, has a broad pH range, is irreversible, more hydrophilic and resistant to oxidation and is also nearly odorless. GoldBio’s TCEP is Proven and Published™ to ensure a quality reagent with optimal potential.

Description

TCEP-HCl is an odorless reducing agent suitable for protein applications. The compound has many desirable features, some of which are as follows:

• TCEPHCl is stable in air.
• TCEPHCl is odorless so reactions can be carried out on the bench without the need for a fume hood.
• TCEPHCl is efficient and can be used to reduce disulfide bonds at low concentrations.
• TCEPHCl is selective for disulfides and does not react with other protein sidechains.
• TCEPHCl may be used as a substitute for DTT at a final concentration of 50 mM.
