Duchefa GelriteTM is a naturally derived gelling polymer that can be used in a variety of applications as a solidification agent instead of agar. Produced by microbial fermentation, GelriteTM is a highly purified, natural anionic polysaccharide with the variations commonly associated with agar. GelriteTM forms rigid, brittle, agar-like gels at approximately half the use level of agar in presence of soluble salt like Mg2+ and Ca2+. Gels prepared with Gelrite™ are remarkably clear in comparison to those formed with agar. GelriteTM contains no contaminating matters (e.g., phenolic compounds) as found in agar that are toxic to certain sensitive organisms.

Micro Agar is a purified agar with a high gel strength and excellent properties for use in plant cell and tissue culture, as well as microbiological work. Micro Agar can be used in a minimal concentration of 5.5 g/L to obtain a solid gel.

Phyto Agar is a specially selected plant tissue culture agar with a high gel strength that is free of the extra salts of other agars which may adversely affect plant growth. Phyto Agar can be used in a minimal concentration of 5.0 g/L to obtain a solid gel.

Duchefa Plant Agar is the preferred choice in Plant cell and Tissue culture as a general purpose agar and combines good quality with a favorable price. Agar is derived from red algae and is comprised of a mix of large polysaccharide agarose molecules and smaller, heterogeneous molecules called agaropectin. Plant agar can be used in a minimal concentration of 5.5 g/l to to obtain a solid gel.
