GoldBio's Illumination™ Firefly Luciferase Enhanced Assay Kit is a highly sensitive flash-type reporter assay for quantifying firefly luciferase activity from cultured cells. Designed for gene expression, promoter activity, gene regulation, and screening studies, the kit delivers sensitive, reliable, and linear detection while providing excellent performance in both routine and high-throughput applications.
This flash-type assay requires luminescence measurements immediately after substrate addition. The kit includes GoldBio's enhanced 5X Luciferase Lysis Buffer, formulated to provide improved working solution stability compared to many conventional firefly luciferase assay kits. Each kit contains sufficient lysis buffer for the stated number of assays in formats ranging from 96-well to 24-well plates.
Firefly luciferase assays are among the most widely used reporter systems because most mammalian cells and tissues lack endogenous luciferase activity, resulting in exceptionally low background.
Firefly luciferase, a 62 kDa enzyme isolated from Photinus pyralis, catalyzes the ATP-dependent oxidation of D-luciferin in the presence of oxygen and Mg2+, producing a yellow-green luminescent signal (~560 nm).
One Assay can be performed in a single tube or an individual well on a 96 well plate. If needed, additional 5X Luciferase Lysis Buffer (GoldBio Catalog # L-740) can be purchased separately.

Storage/Handling:
Store the kit at -80°C (5X Luciferase Lysis Buffer and D-Luciferin may be stored separately at -20°C).
Product may be shipped on blue ice without reducing performance. Please place at the recommended storage conditions upon receipt of the product.
