Description
1,2-Dimyristoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphoethanolamine (DMPE) is a lipid found in the cell membranes of bacteria and human nervous tissues. DMPE membranes are more viscous than phosphatidylcholine. It is assumed that due to the oxidative stress placed on cells from phosphatidylethanolamine-linked products that their presence in foods is responsible for diseases like cancer and diabetes.
