Description
Glycochenodeoxycholic acid, sodium salt (GCDC sodium) is the sodium salt form of the secondary bile acid glycochenodeoxycholic acid. Like the free acid, it functions as an anionic detergent for lipid solubilization and is widely used to study bile acid biology, including bile acid-induced hepatocyte apoptosis, calcium phosphate precipitation, and bile acid-mediated cellular responses.
The sodium salt offers improved aqueous solubility, making it well suited for preparing buffered solutions and cell culture media.
Glycochenodeoxycholic acid, sodium salt is commonly used in studies of hepatocyte injury, cholestasis, bile acid signaling, and mechanisms of apoptosis. It is also used in investigations of DNA damage induced by bile acids and in vitro assays evaluating the biological effects of bile acid exposure under physiologically relevant conditions.
