Sulbactam Sodium is the water-soluble sodium salt of the β-lactamase inhibitor sulbactam. By irreversibly inhibiting susceptible β-lactamases, it helps prevent enzymatic degradation of β-lactam antibiotics and is useful for studying mechanisms of bacterial resistance and antibiotic potentiation.

The sodium salt form is freely soluble in aqueous solution, making it convenient for preparing defined concentrations and combining sulbactam with β-lactam antibiotics in laboratory media and experimental systems.
