Yeast Extract Mannitol (YEM) media is often used for the growth of Agrobacterium as well as Rhizobium bacterial strains. Mannitol is used as a sugar substitute to provide a carbon source while the yeast extract provides the nitrogen for bacterial growth.

YEM media is a complex media formulation that provides optimal and stress free growing conditions for cultures of both Agrobacterium and Rhizobia.

Protein G Magnetic Agarose Beads are designed to provide the easiest and simplest method of monoclonal and polyclonal antibody purification. The antibodies are retained to the magnetic resin which are also covalently conjugated with recombinant Protein G. Magnetic agarose beads provide a convenient and quick method for purification without the need for pipetting or centrifugation. Washing, binding and elution steps will require a magnetic device.

Mature human Interleukin 2 (IL2) shares 58% amino acid sequence identity with murine IL2. Human IL2 and mouse IL2 exhibit cross-species activity. The receptor for IL2 consists of three subunits that are present on the cell surface in varying preformed complexes. The 55 kDa IL2 Rα is specific for IL2 and binds with low affinity. The 75 kDa IL2 Rβ, which is also a component of the IL15 receptor, binds IL2 with intermediate affinity. The 64 kDa common gamma chain γc/IL2 Rγ, which is shared with the receptors for IL4, IL7, IL9, IL15 and IL21, does not interact independently with IL2. Upon ligand binding, signal transduction is performed by both IL2 Rβ and γc. It drives resting T-cells to proliferate and induces IL2 and IL2 Rα synthesis. It contributes to T-cell homeostasis by promoting the Fas-induced death of naive CD4+ T-cells but not activated CD4+ memory lymphocytes.

Amoxicillin/Clavulanate combines an extended-spectrum β-lactam antibiotic with a β-lactamase inhibitor. Amoxicillin is an extended-spectrum ß-lactam antibiotic with a structure similar to that of ampicillin. It is effective against a variety of ß-lactamase negative bacteria including E. coli and various Streptococcus and Staphylococcus bacteria; however, when combined with clavulanic acid, ß-lactamase enzymes are irreversibly inactivated. Consequently, amoxicillin/clavulanate is effective against ß-lactamase-negative and ß-lactamase-positive bacteria.

Cy3‐NHS Ester is an amine-reactive Cy3 labeling dye that carries only one reactive group on each dye molecule for accurate labeling of amine groups on antibodies or oligonucleotides.

Cy3 is a bright, photostable, and pH insensitive fluorescent dye used to label antibody, proteins, peptides. Cy3 conjugates give less background than TAMRA and most other fluorophores.

Cy3 dyes are water-soluble labeling reagent. Cy3 conjugates can be excited maximally at 550 nm, with peak emission at 570 nm. For fluorescence microscopy, Cy3 can be visualized with traditional TAMRA (tetramethylrhodamine) filter sets since the excitation and emission spectra are nearly identical to those of TAMRA.

FGF2 is a member of the Fibroblast Growth Factor family of proteins. It is often called FGF-basic or bFGF. FGF2 is a single-chain polypeptide growth factor that plays a significant role in wound healing, it is a potent inducer of angiogenesis and it is essential for the growth of many stem and progenitor cells. FGF2 shares a 55% amino acid residue identity with FGF1 and interacts with heparin sulfate with nanomolar affinity. It is a potent inducer of DNA synthesis in a variety of cell types. FGF2 activates mesenchymal splice variants of FGF receptors (c splice variants) and also activates FGF Receptor 1b, but has little activity against FGFR2b or FGFR3b. It is most closely associated with FGF1 (aFGF) (see additional information).

4-Benzyloxyindole is a reactant in a variety of preparation procedures. It is used in the synthesis of 4-aryl-4H-chromenes as an inducer of apoptosis, in the synthesis of indol-3-yl tetramethylcyclopropyl ketones as a CB2 cannabinoid receptor ligand, and in the synthesis of hepatitis C inhibitors. Additionally, 4-Benzyloxyindole is used to prepare carbon-11-labeled-4-aryl-4H-chromenes as PET agents in cancer studies, to prepare indoles through Bartoli reductive cyclization, and to synthesize oxopyrrolidine analogs in iodine-catalyzed Markovnikov additions.

Caspofungin acetate is an echinocandin antifungal targeting the fungal cell membrane and inhibiting β(1,3)-D-Glucan synthase, a component necessary for cell wall synthesis. Caspofungin acetate is useful against Aspergillus and Candida species.

P-aminophenyl phosphate (pAPP) can be used as a substrate for alkaline phosphatase enzymatic reactions in order to electrochemically quantify ALP activity.

The enzymatic reaction results in the production of phenol, which can be quantified and used to analyze ALP concentrations.

ALP is a naturally occurring enzyme and can be found in human tissue in the liver, bone and intestines. Usual concentrations of ALP range between 25-100 IU/L. A significant spike outside of that range could act as a signal for many diseases.

Ampicillin is a member of the extended-spectrum β-lactam family and similar in structure to penicillin. It is used in the selection of antibiotic cell hybrids and has a high rate of action against many gram-negative bacterial strains. Ampicillin sodium targets non-ESBL (Extended Spectrum β-lactamase) bacteria including Staphylococcus and Streptococcus species and medically important enteric pathogens such as Shigella and Salmonella. It has been found to be effective against certain β-lactam sensitive VRE or vancomycin resistant Enterococcus species. Resistance to ampicillin is routinely utilized as a selectable marker to confirm successful cell transformation. Ampicillin trihydrate is slightly soluble in water and freely soluble in 1N HCl.

Doxorubicin HCl is an anthracycline antibiotic that inhibits cancer progression by suppressing DNA replication. It is the 12-hydroxylated form of daunorubicin and causes DNA intercalation. It also inhibits topoisomerase II. Doxorubicin is researched for its efficacy against non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma, multiple myeloma, acute leukemias, Kaposi sarcoma, Wilm tumor, Ewing sarcoma, and cancers of the breast, lung, ovary, endometrium, and adrenal cortex. Doxorubicin is an MRP-1 substrate and has been used in drug-resistance studies.

Ceftazidime pentahydrate is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic. It has been used to study the penicillin binding proteins, especially PBP3. It has also been used as a selection tool for mutant colonies. Ceftazidime targets gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa and is less effective against gram-positive cocci. It is soluble in acidic and alkali solvents.
