GelGreen™ Nucleic Acid Stain Gel Stain, 10,000X in DMSO

Description

GelGreen™ 10,000X in DMSO is a highly sensitive fluorescent nucleic acid stain for nucleic acids in agarose gels (dsDNA, ssDNA, and RNA). This formulation is intended for researchers who prefer to maintain established gel electrophoresis protocols developed around DMSO-based loading and staining reagents. It delivers the same staining sensitivity, stability, and low-background fluorescence as the water formulation while providing compatibility with existing processes.

GelGreen™ can be visualized using a 254 nm UV transilluminator or visible light gel imaging systems, including blue LED transilluminators, 488 nm laser-based gel scanners, and Dark Reader® instruments. Compared to many traditional nucleic acid stains, GelGreen™ offers excellent thermal and hydrolytic stability for reliable performance during routine laboratory use.

Extensive safety testing has shown GelGreen™ to be noncytotoxic, nonmutagenic, and nonhazardous at concentrations well above those used for gel staining. When disposed of according to institutional guidelines, it provides a safer alternative to many conventional nucleic acid stains while maintaining high analytical performance.

Features

  • Safer than Ethidum Bromide
Shown by the Ames test and other tests to be nonmutagenic and noncytotoxic
  • Easy disposal
Passed environmental safety tests for direct disposal down the drain or in regular trash
  • Ultra-sensitive
Higher sensitivity than EtBr and SYBR® Safe
  • Extremely stable
Available in water, stable at room temperature for long-term storage and microwavable
  • Simple to use
